British Airways and Unite commit to new talks

British Airways and the Unite union have agreed to resume talks in a move that could spell an end to the threat of  industrial action by disaffected staff.

 

The flag carrier was nearly brought to its knees in December when cabin crew voted overwhelmingly in favour of a 12-day strike during the peak Christmas period.

 

But an eleventh-hour ruling by the High Court barred Unite from staging the walkout, and analysts speculate that the two sides are now closer than ever to reaching a deal.
