The Republic of Korea became the host of next general assembly of the UNWTO in 2011 with the approval of 154 member states at the 18th UNWTO General Assembly in Astana, Kazakhstan.

“Korea will make the best General Assembly in the history of UNWTO in 2011”, said Mr. Jae-Min Shin, Vice Minister of Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Korea is the country where the attraction of tradition and modernity coexist and has a lot to offer tourists thanks to its four distinct seasons.

Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has designated 2010 through 2012 as the ‘Visit Korea Year’ and will put forward a grand overseas marketing promotion for achieving the goal of attracting 10 million foreign tourists by 2012.

The Korean government believes that being the host of 2011 UNWTO General Assembly will be a good opportunity for promoting 2010 to 2012 Visit Korea Year and serve as a momentum for Korea to emerge as a tourism power nation.
