TOURSIB – a perfect doorway to the burgeoning tourism market of Siberian region!
Siberia (WorldTourismNews) - The 19th International Exhibition for tourism, leisure, sport and airlines “TOURSIB – 2009” took place on 9-11 April 2009 at the “ITE Siberian Fair” International Exhibition center in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation.
TOURSIB is the main exhibition for tourism industry in the Western part of Russia and is held for almost two decades. The official support of the most important professional tourist organizations proves the significance and prestige of the Event.
Among the exhibitors are travel agencies and tour operators, airlines, hotels and health resorts, children’s camps and other companies.
The 2009 Event played host to 240 companies from 15 countries, including the Russian Federation, Greece, Egypt, Vietnam, Italy, Mongolia, Tunisia, Thailand, Turkey, Kazakhstan, China, Kirghizia, Croatia, Czech Republic and Switzerland.
The leading players in the tourism industry of Russia took part in the Exhibition including: Tez Tour, Coral Travel, Russian Express, Track Travel, S7 Airlines, Aeroflot, Mouzenidis, Neva, PAC Group, Anex Tour, Pegas Touristik and Danko company.
Exhibitors presented a wide range of inbound and outbound tourism programs, excursion and educational tours.
TOURSIB attracted an attendance of 3700 specialists from all the cities of Siberian region – 10% higher than the previous year. And despite the global financial crisis the majority of exhibitors and visitors obtained a positive impression and said they would be back next year.
Fabio Guarducci, Tombolo Talasso Resort: “It was a very productive Exhibition with the presence of many travel agents from all over Siberia – they were all most interested and I am sure that they will produce good results in the future”.
Konstantin Kinel, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Moscow office: “The Exhibition is traditionally at the high level. A lot of professional visitors, new business contacts and partners not only from Novosibirsk, but from other cities of Siberia”.
Mladen Falkoni, Head of the HTZ branch office in Russia: “ We are participating in the TOURSIB Exhibition, the leading exhibition for tourism in Siberian region, over the last 8 years. In comparison with the last year, this year Exhibition has become more interesting, the number of visitors increased. And it means that Exhibition is developing in spite of the challenges facing the global economy and tourism industry”.
The Event official opening ceremony was attended by Shpilko S.P., President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, Plamen Stoyanov, Consul General of Bulgaria in Novosibirsk, Mladen Falkoni, Head of the HTZ branch office in Russia and other representatives of government and trade associations. The speakers highlighted the importance of TOURSIB for the tourism development in the times of economic downturn.
“TOURSIB – 2009” was a source of information, providing answers to many of the pressing issues confronting the industry. A series of seminars and conferences was organized over the 3 days: Press Conference devoted to the tourism industry development in Siberian region in crisis times, “Regional tourism development in turbulent times” round table discussion, “Tourism information technologies” conference, “Anti-recessionary communications. PR at the tourism market” round table discussion and others.
Within the framework of the Exhibition tourist companies and organizations held a number of presentations to perform new tourism products and services.
The “Golden Medal of the ITE Siberian Fair”, a traditional awards ceremony was held at the end of the Exhibition.

TOURSIB – 2010 Exhibition will be held again on 15-17 April 2010.
