Melbourne Campaign Touts New Hotels and Attractions

Melbourne, Australia, launched a campaign to promote its new hotels, restaurants and attraction openings. New and refurbished accommodations in Melbourne include Intercontinental Melbourne The Rialto, located in The Rialto, Melbourne’s famous heritage-listed building on Collins Street.

The hotel completed a $40 million redevelopment and reopened in December 2008. The five-star hotel accommodates 253 guests in two towers and sits next door to the Rialto Towers Observation Deck –one of the tallest buildings in the Southern Hemisphere and a popular attraction for visitors.

The Grand Hyatt Melbourne finished a spectacular 15-month, $30 million redevelopment in January 2009. The building’s art deco origins are enhanced through a cutting edge design that features Australian timbers and Italian and Grecian marble.

The completion of the redevelopment also unveils new upper and lower lobbies, a restaurant and a bar. The residence, Grand Hyatt Melbourne’s new private mansion concept, is the first of its kind in Australia. Completed in December 2008, the grand yet cozy venue offers guests a more personal, “at home” setting for hosting private events. Rates for this spring/summer start at $200 per night.

Crown Melbourne Limited has begun construction of its yet-to-be-named third property. The new property will be the largest hotel in Australia and will be located adjacent to the existing Crown Entertainment Complex.

The new hotel’s 658 rooms will bring the total number of hotel rooms at the Crown Entertainment Complex to more than 1,600. The hotel is projected to open in May 2010 with a day spa, restaurant, lounge, bar and retail precinct.

The Hotel Windsor announced plans for a multimillion-dollar refurbishment in 2009. The extensive restoration will ensure the 125-year-old hotel, one of the world’s first grand hotels, is synonymous with 21st century luxury while maintaining the property’s unique charm and distinguished history.
